Apple Cake

This warm apple cake served beautifully with cream is the perfect winter warmer when you want to snuggle on the couch.It’s a family favorite and one we look forward to whenever the weather starts getting chilly.


  • 2 eggs
  • 200g sugar (250ml)
  • 65ml milk
  • 30g margarine, melted
  • 250ml self rising flour (140g)
  • 4/5 apples

Sauce ingredients

  • 250ml sugar (200g)
  • 125ml fresh cream
  • 5ml caramel essence


Whisk eggs and sugar. Add milk And melted margarine.

Add flour, mix until smooth, and pour batter into a greased dish.

Peel apples and cut into wedges. Add to a pot with a teaspoon of sugar and bring to a boil. Boil till soft and strain.

Arrange apples on batter and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 25-30mins or until golden brown.

For sauce:

Combine sugar and cream, bring to a boil and add essence. Pour over hot cake once removed from the oven.
