The schools have officially closed their doors and the kids are buzzing and ready to get their holiday on.
I’ve compiled a list of places offering tons of fun activities for you and your kids to enjoy.
Cape Gate Summer Splash
Where: Cape Gate Shopping Center (Medi-clinic parking area)
When: 6 December 2019 – 11 January 2020 (except Christmas and New Year’s Day)
What to expect: This huge outdoor water park will ensure heaps of fun offering various water slides, a wave board, paddle boats, a mini beach, a dunk pool, foam slip and slide and weekly beach activities.
Every Saturday, during the event dates, you can also partake in a fun beach-themed workshop or activity – free of charge. These sessions include sand-building and kite-making workshops, a water wars challenge as well as a beach treasure hunt!
Price: R85 for 90 minutes and R125 for 3 hours. Non-riders (accompanying parents) will pay a fee of R40. Ticket prices include access to all activities and can be bought via Webtickets or at the event entrance.
Come meet V&A’s new friends Zoemba and Jellieat the Amphitheatre
Where: V&A Waterfront’s Amphitheatre
When: 13 – 24 December 2019
What to expect: The V&A Waterfront would like to introduce two new friends. Zoemba, the rhino and Jellie, the elephant will entertain the crowd with sing along songs and games for kids of all ages. Be sure to look out for colouring in competitions, face painting and appearances by Miss Buttercup and Festive Fairy. There will be three shows daily starting at 11am, 1:30pm and 4pm at the V&A Waterfront’s Amphitheatre.
Frozen Fun Slide Park
Where: Canal Walk Shopping Centre (Centre court, behind food court)
When: 29 November 2019 – 5 January 2020
What to expect: Frozen slides and an Olaf play area. The Frozen fun slide park opens at 10am, each session lasts 45 minutes and start every hour on the hour. The last session is at 8pm.
Price: R100 – full rider; R80 – mini rider and R35 – non-rider
Santa’s Festive Village
Where: Somerset Mall – Edgars court
When: 6 December 2019 – 5 January 2020
What to expect: A quint town with elements of snow, candy and festive fun. Santa workshops will be done every weekend between 10:00 & 13:00.
Price: R50 for kids, R10 for adults. Card/Zapper only
World of Adventure
Where: Root 44
When: Saturdays and sundays 9am till 5pm
What to expect: An indoor and outdoor play park for kids aged 3 – 12. Activities such as putt putt, waterslides, jumping castles, push carts and jungle gyms will keep them entertained all day
Price: R35 – 1 to 2 year olds; R95 – 3 to 12 year olds; R20 per adult; R35 for mini golf only.
The Cape Town Science Centre
Where: The Cape Town Science Centre – Observatory
When: 5 Decemeber 2019 – 14 January 2020
What to expect: The science centre is jam packed with activities for kids to enjoy from an an amazing Science show to various hands on workshops happening daily. They boast a fun toddler area for the little ones to enjoy, a tech station for bigger kids to play games or explore, a giant chess board, a building site and many many many science themed areas to explore. Where: Klondyke Cherry Farm
When: 21 November – 31 December 2019
What can you expect: You pay an entrance fee per person and receive a container – indicating what a 1kg more or less looks like, which you are welcome to fill to the brim with delicious ruby-tinged or sunkissed yellow cherries. Between picking, take time out to explore the picturesque orchards and, when you’re done, have your container weighed at the farmstall.
