Winter Boosters
Winter comes along every year with extra runny noses, some coughs here and there all due to seasonal a colds and flu. This year we fight an even bigger pandemic plaguing the world, I cannot think of a better time to boost our Immune systems than right now.
I’m going to share two of my go-to drink recipes with you and underneath I’ll elaborate on the health benefits of each ingredient so you can see why I add it to the mix.
Immune Boosting super shot
Ingredients:
- 2 x Oranges peeled
- 4 cm fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 garlic clove (optional)
Method
Juice the orange, ginger and garlic in a juicer and add the spices, mix will and enjoy as is or add ice.
Immune Boosting Juice
Ingredients:
- 1 x lemon peeled
- 2 x naartjies peeled
- 2 x oranges peeled
- 1 x grapefruit peeled
- 4 x carrots
- 4 cm ginger
- 1 tbsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 1 pinch black pepper
Method;
Juice the lemon, naartjies. orange, grapefruit, carrots and ginger and garlic in a juicer and add the spices, mix will and enjoy as is or add ice.
Both of these can also be made into smoothies and you can add plain yogurt for an extra boost of healthy bacteria for your smoothies.

Orange | High in vitamin C and antioxidants, helps reduce fever |
Ginger | Antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory. Can help treat colds, flu, sore throats and headaches |
Tumeric | Strong antiseptic and anti-inflammatory |
Cayenne Pepper | Antibacterial and evacuates mucus. Stimulates the metabolism |
Black pepper | increases the absorption of turmeric into your body, high in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties |
Garlic | Flu fighting properties |
Carrots | Increased metabolism, boosts immunity and helps strengthen vision. |
Lemon | Good source of Vitamin C, improves digestion and helps weightloss. Good remedy for sore throats |
Naarjie | Good source of fibre |
Grape Fruit | High source of vitamin C, increases iron absorption and supports your immune system |
