Helping your kids make it, when you can’t.
It’s no secret in our home, I am not the DIY mom. I’ve learn’t to manipulate technology to help me make things but that’s as far as it goes. In fact, I’m pretty sure I failed grade 5 technology when we had to make a bridge. It’s rough.
This doesn’t mean that my kids need to suffer, they should be making all the things and exploring their creativity as much as possible, from as early as possible.
Queue the make tab in Google Kids Space on their Nokia T10 tablet. We have found some amazing activities to try but our favorite is learning how to draw various characters step by step.
What is Kids Space?
Google Kids Space an experience available on various android devices with content to help kids discover, create, and grow in a safe, age appropriate environment. Kids can access apps, books, and videos that are targeted to their interests which they can choose when you set up the platform with them.
At first glance, your child see’s their avatar and an overview of what is available to them. At the bottom of the screen they will find various tabs to choose what they would like to. They can play, read or create some interesting projects with the help of the make tab.
What is the Make tab in Kids Space?
In the Make tab, kids can get inspired to create, discover, and practice their skills with recommended videos from YouTube Kids about everything from simple drawing activities to silly science projects. These videos spark hands-on creativity and play.
The kids have found interesting projects that we would have never thought of. It has expanded their skills beyond simple cut & paste.
You as the parent will still have the overall control, you can do this through Family link from Google which can be downloaded on android and iOS devices. With parental controls in the Family Link app, you can guide your child’s experience by managing content, setting screen time limits, and more, all from your device. You are able to monitor what apps they spend time on, how much time and grant permission when they would like to download new apps.
Profiles on Kids Space
My kids are 4 and 11 years old. Their interests and skill levels are different. I love that they are able to each have their own profile on their Nokia T10 tablet and on Kids Space. This means they are shown content that is relevant to each of them.
I love that they are not restricted even though they share a device. They are able to learn and challenge themselves or do projects together. Saving me from looking like the uncreative mom and giving me a little time to finish a nice warm cup of coffee every now and then.
