One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt from being a mom is how important sleep is. On days when I don’t get enough sleep I turn into the wicked witch of the East. We all know how that story ended for her. She got buried, under a house, which is exactly how I feel on days when sleep is a distant memory.
Many factors can influence your quality of sleep. Some include using technology late at night, drinking coffee or eating heavy meals right before bed and your lifestyle choices like exercise and diet. Not exactly what a Mom living on coffee and clingy to their social life through Instagram wants to hear.
Why is it necessary for us to get a good night sleep?
Ever realise how pleasant you are after getting a decent night sleep? This is because our bodies use the time we are asleep to reset and repair itself. This is even more important while pregnant because our bodies repair the blood vessels which are under increased pressure to support baby growing inside. Sleep helps our immune systems and controls how our body reacts to insulin. When we don’t get enough sleep our blood sugar levels are at risk and could leave you feeling heavy. This explains so much for me personally.
I read an interesting statement on huffpost.com saying “You wouldn’t run a marathon or hike a mountain without the right gear. And yet, despite spending a third of our lives sleeping, many of us haven’t adequately prepared in the bedroom when it comes to mattresses”.
Bed King might have the sleep solution we all need.
I was invited by Bed King to try out their new Comfort Solution Lab and find the right bed to help me sleep at the most effective level for my body type. I visited Bed King Cape Gate and was greeted by two friendly ladies that was eager to help me find out which bed would be idea. We head to the Comfort Solution Lab and I was taken through the steps of the machine. It looks like a little sleep nook in the store.
How does the ComfortSolution Lab work?
The ComfortSolution Lab which is exclusive to Bed King and uses pressure mapping technology to determine your unique comfort and support needs based on your body composition and sleep position.
When I sat down I had to answer a few questions and then lie on the mattress in the position I would usually sleep. The pressure mapping technology measured by body’s pressure on the mattress surface to identify your unique pressure points. The pressure points indicate where you lack support and indicates your support and comfort needs. My pressure points where all around my thigh and hip area.
The ComfortSoltions Lab indicated which would be the best mattress for me and the sales assistant showed me to the bed so I could lie down and test it. Testing beds in a store always feels strange to me but the staff at Bed King made me so comfortable, I felt at home getting up and testing that bed. It was soft but with enough firm to support my pressure points. Bed King provided a great experience and I’m looking forward to purchasing a bed with my knew knowledge of my pressure points. All this takes only 5 minutes
The price of a good bed is a scary thought but remember that getting good sleep can help you lose weight, improve your memory and potentially help you live longer, it might be a good investment.
Bed King’s Children’s hospital campaign
Bed King has made the deal even sweater by running a campaign to raise money for the Red Cross War Memorial Hospital. This is the third year they are running this initiative. With every Comfort Solutions Mattress you buy, R500 is donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust. Last year R250 000 was raised and all money will be going towards upgrading the emergency unit. You also receive an adorable little Kingsley bear.
